A Legacy Distilled Through Generations

Kalifornia Distilleries was born from a rich heritage, officially established in 2013 by a father-son duo—Bill and Billy Tiller. But our story began long before that. The Tiller family has been perfecting the art of distilling since 1731, starting in Cork, Ireland. Passed down from father to son for nearly 300 years, our tradition combines time-honored methods with today’s technology to craft some of the finest spirits you can find.

From the rolling hills of Ireland to the American frontier, the Tillers brought with them their passion for distilling. They made their mark along the East Coast before eventually settling in California. Along the way, their spirits earned a loyal following—one generation, one bottle at a time.

Our Roots Run Deep

One of the most cherished landmarks in our family’s journey is the historic Tiller-Mitchell House, a log cabin in Sandy Springs, Georgia. Built in 1894, it was once used to make moonshine during Prohibition. Though the house was seized in the 1930s, it was reclaimed by our family and now stands as a proud historic landmark—reminding us of where we come from and the spirit of perseverance that defines us.

Our Business

Kalifornia Distilleries began in Temecula, CA, and quickly grew, expanding into over a dozen retailers, including two national chains. As demand surged, plans were made to move into a larger facility in Murrieta. But like many small businesses, we faced the unexpected challenges of 2020. Shutdowns, delays, and uncertainty tested us. In a surprising twist, we even shifted to manufacturing hand sanitizer to support our community.

Just as we began to find our footing again, tragedy struck. In 2021, we lost Bill—our founder, our father, and the heart of our operation. The loss was immense. But the outpouring of love at his memorial inspired Billy to carry on, determined to honor his father’s legacy.

By late 2023, we were back. Reopened, reenergized, and ready. But the road wasn’t done throwing curveballs. Another major setback nearly closed our doors for good. That is, until a close family friend sparked an idea—a new business model that could save the product line and preserve everything we’d built.

Rebirth in 2025

In early 2025, the Kalifornia Distilleries concept was revitalized under a new entity and owner—someone who saw the value in the brand, the quality of the product, and the passion behind it. While the business now operates under a new structure, the Tiller family remains the soul of the operation, continuing to lead all production and quality control. Their time-tested recipes and hands-on expertise ensure that the spirit of Kalifornia lives on in every bottle.

This new chapter brings with it a fresh energy, a new location, and a renewed commitment to craft, community, and legacy.
